The skin is the largest organ in the human body. People seem to think that what touches your skin just wipes off or evaporates, but, as an example, you'll absorb more chlorine from taking a hot shower than you will drinking chlorinated water. So when you rub sunscreen on your skin, your body is absorbing its contents. Below are some of the more dangerous substances found in sunscreen and other products - lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc:
- Diazolidinyl urea
- Butyl acetate
- Butylated hydroxytoluene
- Ethyl acetate
- Toluene
- Triethanolamine
- Parabens
- Sodium/ammonium lauryl sulfate (SLS)
- Propylene glycol
- Phtalates
- Petrolatum
- Cocamide DEA/lauramide DEA
